NOTICE:
The Muskingum Valley Council Executive Board has entered into a lease agreement with Ohio Trophy Buck Outfitters, to conduct hunting at the Muskingum Valley Scout Reservation. This agreement will provide financial resources to support the Camp and help in managing the deer population on the property.
The lease allows for hunting on weekdays until February 5th, and on two weekends; December 17&18 and January 7&8. The times hunting is being allowed, are times when there has historically been little to no use of the property by Scouts.
For safety reasons, the camp property will be closed at any time that hunting is taking place. At all times, Units and individuals must notify the council service center or the camp ranger prior to entering the camp property. No one will be allowed on the property while hunting is in progress.
Units, families or individuals wishing to use the camp property are to complete a Facility Use Request Form and submit it to the Council Service Center at least two weeks in advance of your planned visit. Earlier is better. Once the visit is approved, the Facility Use Request Form will be returned to the unit and should be brought with the group when you visit. The Facility Use Request Form is available for download under the forms tab. (click here)
On your arrival at camp, you must sign your group in at the Ranger’s Office. There is a clip board on the wall of the ranger’s house, if he is not available when you arrive. At no time, should you proceed into the camp property if the “Closed for Hunting” sign is on the main gate.
The lease has been designed to minimize the impact on Scouting use of Camp, while allowing for sound wildlife conservation, and generation of revenue for the Scouting program. Persons interested in hunting on the property should contact Ohio Trophy Buck Outfitters at (567) 203-7048. Any other questions may be referred to the Scout Executive at the Council Service Center; 740-453-0571.
