2012 Camperships

The 2012 Campership forms are ready for download and to be passed out to all Scouts who are in need of financial assistance to get to a Muskingum Valley Council Summer Camp. Internet Rechartering

Make sure that your unit uses Internet Rechartering! It is the easiest way for your unit to recharter! You need your internet recharter ID, which is on your recharter packet that is handed out at Roundtable.

New Nature programs coming to MVSR this Spring

Archeology…Gold Panning…Tree and Compass…Nature Trail…Edible Plants…Geology

What do all these things have in common? They are the six new programs that will be available on weekends at MVSR beginning next Spring. Complete all six to earn the 6 parts of the special pie patch created by Ranger Ron.

Ranger Ron will be your guide through each experience. Plan 2-3 hours for each segment. If your Troop camps for the weekend you could complete up to three segments. But you don’t have to camp. Just come out on a Saturday morning or afternoon to complete a segment that interests you. All you have to do is call Ranger Ron to schedule your session. There will be a small charge to cover the cost of the patch and any materials used.

Call Ranger Ron today to make arrangements for your Pack or Troop to earn a piece of the patch, or plan now to be among the first to earn the whole patch!

Cabin Camping at MVSR

Attention Cub Scout and Boy Scout leaders:

Our Handicraft Building is ready for your unit. The building comfortably sleeps 15, with a wood-burning stove to keep the place warm and toasty! Picnic tables in the building provide a warm place for meals, activities and games.

We’ve reduced the price to $50 per night or $75 for a weekend. That’s less than $4.00 per person, per night. Don’t let a little winter slow down your outdoor adventure, rent the Handicraft Lodge at MVSR!

And, Don’t forget to call Ranger Ron before your stay. He has a variety of programs he can offer to keep your Scouts engaged and energized. Everything from an informative nature hike, to survival skills to geocaching to service projects.

Wood Badge 2012

You want to do the best job possible for the youth you serve. Wood Badge is the premier advanced Scout leader training course. We are pleased to offer this opportunity to prepare yourself to do your very best as a Scout leader.

The course will take place over two weekends:

August 25-27, 2012 (Saturday through Monday)

September 29 – October 1st (Saturday through Monday)

If you are not already registered, contact the Council and submit a $100 deposit as soon as possible.

If you have already registered, remember that your 2nd payment of $50 is due by November 4th.

Jamboree 2013

National Scout Jamboree Youth Registration and Adult Leader Selection Open Now

Get ready! The 2013 National Scout Jamboree is coming July 15 – July 24, 2013 and it is not your father’s jamboree. We’re talking seriously high adventure! Whitewater rafting, zip-lining, rappelling, mountain biking, hiking, and more – with 50,000 of your closest friends at the brand NEW Summit Bechtel Reserve in the wilds of West Virginia.The Muskingum Valley Council is sending a contingent of 50 youth and adults. Be part of history and say you attended the first National Scout Jamboree at the NEW Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia.

YOUTH:
Don’t wait to apply. You mus register with the National Council and complete the registration form for our council as well. A $250.00 deposit is required.
Muskingum Valley Council is looking for the following youth to apply - 36 youth boy scouts and 8 venturers. Please be sure to read the participation and physical fitness requirements when you register, to make sure you qualify.
