Meet your 2023 Camp Director Andrew Yerkey!

We're happy to announce our Camp Director for Muskingum Valley Scout Reservation this summer will be Andrew Yerkey! Andrew is a longtime MVSR camper and is coming to us from Philmont Scout Ranch.

Please give Andrew a warm welcome!

In Andrew’s own words:

My name is Andrew Yerkey. I am excited to be serving as the Camp Director for Muskingum Valley Scout Reservation this summer. I have been involved in scouting for a very long time. I started my time in scouting when I joined Cub Scouts. I went all the way through Cub Scouts and achieved my Arrow of Light. I then crossed over to Troop 356 in Dublin Ohio in 2013. During my time in Troop 356 I served as a patrol leader and then later as the senior patrol leader. While a scout I attended MVSR for seven summers and it was always a highlight of my year. I achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in 2020 and have remained actively involved with my troop. In 2021 I attended MVSR as an adult leader for my troop. Outside of my troop I attended and then staffed the Simon Kenton Council NYLT as a troop guide. I also attended the 2017 National Jamboree and later the 2019 World Jamboree as the senior patrol leader of Troop USA317. In 2021 I was the crew leader for a 12-day trek at Philmont Scout Ranch and was able to return last summer, 2022, to work as a Ranger leading ten crews on treks in the New Mexico backcountry. Currently I am finishing my Junior year at Cedarville University studying Mechanical Engineering and minoring in Bible. I am looking forward to sharing the MVSR experience with scouts this summer. I have always loved spending time outdoors and I think it is the perfect place for scouts to grow. I hope to be able to provide a great outdoor growth experience for the scouts this summer.
