What is NYLT?

NYLT, National Youth Leadership Training, is a six day advanced leadership course designed to teach Scouts the tools, techniques, and skills they need to be better leaders – not only in their units, but also at home, in school, and in their daily lives. Throughout the week, participants will learn these skills through engaging presentations, fun games, and patrol activities, all led by a trained youth staff. At the end of the week, participants will have attained these leadership abilities and will be able to return to their units and make a difference.

Participants: The course is capped at 48 participants!

  • Each participant must be at least 13 years of age and a First Class Scout or a registered Venture Scout by June 1st, 2024.
  • Cost is $200, including a $50 deposit submitted with application.
    • If registered by April 26th, 2024
  • The Unit Leader must approve the Scout’s application.
    • Unit Leaders, please email BOTH Jack Downs, jack.downs@scouting.org, and Sarah Udischas, sarah@udischas., to acknowledge your approval.
  • Scholarships are available to youth who are in need, up to 50%.

Objectives:

  • Give you the confidence and knowledge to conduct a youth – led program
  • Train you in all aspects of effective leadership, from teaching skills to motivating an organization
  • Guide you through the stages of team development
  • Give you the opportunity to share ideas and experiences with youth from other units.
  • Enhance the relationship between you and adults.
  • Create an environment of Scouting fellowship and fun guided by the Scout Oath and Law
  • Experience Scouting at its best!
